چکیده

Cultivation of Osmundea pinnatifida (Hudson) Stackhouse in flasks and/or tanks has yet to be developed beyond the lab scale. However, establishment a methodology for supply this red seaweed great potential, considering that it can exploited either as food or source biologically active compounds with potential nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. This study investigates possibility growing O. Algem® photo bioreactor (PBR) system, normally utilised microalgae cultivation, examines antioxidant content biomass. The cultures were incubated PBRs under set environmental parameters established previous seasonality at single location on west coast Scotland. growth PBR was monitored, biomass assessed content, results compared seasonal samples, assess how system affects biochemistry species. Analyses centred activity included Total Phenolic Content (TPC) Ferric Iron Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP). A significant increase two five-time higher wild achieved by cultivating PBR. highlights production improved increasing photoperiod light intensity manipulating wavelength. information provides important insights into cultivation conditions species tailored improve composition product interest.

Comparison of Microalgae Cultivation in Photobioreactor, Open Raceway Pond, and a Two-Stage Hybrid System

In the wake of intensive fossil fuel usage and CO2 accumulation in the environment, research is targeted toward sustainable alternate bioenergy that can suffice the growing need for fuel and also that leaves a minimal carbon footprint. Oil production from microalgae can potentially be carried out more efficiently, leaving a smaller footprint and without competing for arable land or biodiverse l...

An Interactive Tool for Outdoor Computer Controlled Cultivation of Microalgae in a Tubular Photobioreactor System

This paper describes an interactive virtual laboratory for experimenting with an outdoor tubular photobioreactor (henceforth PBR for short). This virtual laboratory it makes possible to: (a) accurately reproduce the structure of a real plant (the PBR designed and built by the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Almería, Spain); (b) simulate a generic tubular PBR by changing ...

A novel horizontal photobioreactor for high-density cultivation of microalgae.

Microalgae are a promising source of biofuels and bioproducts, as they consume CO2 to grow, multiply quickly, and can be cultivated in wastewater and on marginal land. Development of low-cost and high-efficiency microalgal cultivation systems is important to the cost-competitiveness of algae. A floating horizontal photobioreactor (HBR) was developed that is inexpensive and scalable, as it is ma...

Semi-Continuous Cultivation of Photosynthetic Cells in a Flat Plate Photobioreactor

From an engineering point of view, the effect of light intensity distribution on the stability of growth rate should be taken into account in designing effective photobioreactors and sustaining stable growth rates. In the experiments described here, in order to keep operational parameters at an almost constant level, a semi-continuous culture method was developed for cultivation of photosynthet...
